All property is taxable unless an exemption has been provided by the laws of the state or county; taxation being the
rule and exemption the exception.
There are a number of types of property which are exempt from taxation. Further, tax relief called a Homestead
Exemption is given to individuals who live on the property they own. Another type of tax relief, called a Freeport
Exemption is given to individuals or corporations storing an inventory of manufactured goods or raw materials used in the production
of those goods. There are also a number of other miscellaneous exemptions that may apply to you.
